Taiwan Address Search Localization - Design Improvement by Data Driven Analysis
Garmin PND (Portable Navigation Device) Guidance 3.0 enhance the functionalities of way-finding. One of the top key features is searching address. The goal of this project is to improve the usability problems and localize the address search for Taiwan.
As the UX Designer working on this project, I intended to speed up the path inputing the street name by predictive keyboard and finding the destination in a more intuitive way. My contribution is to research current Taiwan address structure, to define better design for the predictive keyboard / suggestion bar and to make the decision by data driven analysis. During the process, I collaborated with many cross functional teams including GIS (Geographic Information System) Engineer, SW Developer, Product Manager, and Account Manager. After several round of internal user testing, the design was delivered to meet the user needs locally and the workflow has been adopted to China and Japan where have similar address structure.
