TEAM CARPOOL

Overview

T.E.A.M. CARPOOL is the location-based mobile social network application for ride sharing, which aims to connect people with ride pools in their daily commute as well as to lessen environmental impacts.

This project was a school project with members of three. I was the lead designer who was participating every stage during the design process as well as defining all the storyboard, and visual mockups.

Problem & Goal

The University of Texas at Austin encompasses several methods to coordinate student’s transportation problem such as expanding parking lots, student shuttle and public bus system, but still faces issues of increasing population and limited campus capacity every year. According to the Parking Strategies Committee’s repot in 2014, there were 52,000 students, 17,279 faculty/ staff and 5,000 visitors, but there were only 15,800 parking spaces around the campus, which make the potential users to parking space ratio as 4.8 : 1. It is becoming very challenge for students to commute to school via personal vehicle and purchase parking permit with raising price.

This goal is of this carpool app is to provide UT students an economically viable ride sharing system as a transportation alternative for the entire campus community.
